Piston Sampler

Product Description

The hydraulic piston sampler is ideal for collecting undisturbed samples in soft to stiff clays. It's powered by a hydraulic power unit on a drilling rig or a dedicated hydraulic power pack from Archway, typically operating at 1200 p.s.i. pressure.

The piston offers a maximum 1-meter stroke.
This stationary sampler is a fixed 2.85-meter unit, with the only moving part being the hydraulic cylinder, sliding up and down central rods. The sample tube attaches to the hydraulic cylinder's lower end, allowing it to move down for sampling and up for preparation.
To ensure a tight seal, adjust the piston seal pressure by tightening or loosening Allen-cap screws on the piston head's back-plate. Detailed operating instructions and a parts list can be found here.
The equipment is designed for 1-meter thin-wall aluminum sample tubes, typically 105.1mm O.D. x 101.6mm I.D. Kits are available for alternative tube diameters, and you can also get hydraulic hoses and extension rods for direct connection to the piston sampler.
